Terratrip wheel probes. Typically fitted to non-driven wheel hubs, these are still the most popular of all probes and now you have a choice of two types from Terratrip. The probe is mounted at the rear of the hub and in effect 'looks' at the bolt heads holding the brake disc to the hub. With the sensor probe mounted with the required gap set accurately, with each revolution 4 steel bolt heads will pass the probe and the magnetic effect between the probe and bolt head is detected by the tripmenter and 'counted', allowing the tripmeter to calculate the distance travelled over a specific time period. The two maximum disances or the two models are 2mm and 4mm.
